Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will propel Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Classic Games

Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The film will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his companions.

The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
